Maryland Multi-Car Crash Sends Three to Hospital

By Alpert Schreyer on December 16, 2011

A multiple car crash in Anne Arundel County left three people in the hospital, one car flipped over, and another split into two pieces on November 3. The incident occurred around noon when the driver of a Toyota Camry rear ended a Ford Focus being driven by a student driver at an intersection, then continued into the turn lane where it struck a Honda Accord, splitting it into two pieces, according to ABC 2 News. Finally, the Toyota went onto a grass embankment, hit a tree, and flipped over.

After the accident, the driver of the Toyota, the instructor for the student driver, and the driver of the split-in-two Honda were taken to hospitals for varying degrees of injuries. The investigation of the crash is still ongoing; however, police have stated that alcohol was not a factor, but speeding and aggressive driving may have led to the crash.

When a driver recklessly operates his or her vehicle and fails to take into account the safety of surrounding vehicles and pedestrians, they significantly increase the risk of a serious injury car crash. There are many auto accident causes, but some of the most dangerous ones include:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs;
  • Drowsy or fatigued driving;
  • Distracted driving caused by cell phone use, texting, or grooming; and
  • Failure to obey the rules of the road, such as speed limits, stop signs, and right-of-way.

Any one of these factors can lead to an accident that ends in life-altering injury or death, and when multiple factors are combined, the odds of an accident occurring increase to staggering proportions.

Due to the violent nature and impact of a car accident, many injuries can result in long-term and costly medical care that can leave a victim in extreme debt. If you or a loved one has been injured due to another driver’s negligence, the Maryland car accident injury lawyers  at Alpert Schreyer, LLC can help you receive the financial compensation you deserve.
