The incident happened at around 7:30am in Accokeek, Maryland when a car crossed the double line and collided with the bus before striking another vehicle. The bus was headed to Gwynn Park High School at the time of the accident.
While the driver of the bus was not hurt, 21 students were taken to a local hospital by another school bus and evaluated before being released to their parents. Ambulances transported two students to the hospital with minor injuries.
After about 20 minutes, the driver of the car was able to be extricated and moved to a trauma center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
