A 17-year-old Chesapeake Beach girl was killed in a Maryland car accident while riding in the front seat of a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro that collided with a 2013 Honda Ridgeline truck. According to a news report in Southern Maryland Newspapers Online, the fatal crash occurred at East Mt. Harmony Road at Valley View Court in Owings. Officials say the Camaro, driven by a 20-year-old woman, crossed the double yellow lines for unknown reasons before colliding with the truck.
The 77-year-old driver of the Honda and the 20-year-old driver of the Camaro were both injured in the crash. Other injured victims in the Camaro include two 10-year-olds and an 18-year-old woman. Medical personnel pronounced the 17-year-old front seat passenger dead at the scene. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and officials are requesting information from anyone who may have witnessed the fatal collision.
The family of someone fatally injured in a Maryland crash would be well advised to retain the services of an experienced and competent personal injury lawyer who will fight hard to protect their rights. Depending on the cause of the crash, financial compensation should be available for the family’s tragic loss. Families are often hesitant, however, to pursue compensation when the at-fault driver was a friend of the victim. In such cases, a knowledgeable attorney will advise the family on how to pursue compensation and how a claim will affect the driver responsible for the collision.
