A four-year-old boy died on June 12 as the result of injuries he suffered in a June 10 car accident that happened in Waldorf in the 9500 blocks of Billingsley Road. As reported by thebaynet.com, at 9:00 a.m. on June 10, Charles County officers were called to the scene of a car accident. The 25-year-old female driver of a Nissan Maxima had lost control of her vehicle and had crashed into a tree while headed east on Billingsley Road. The driver’s three children were riding in the rear seat at the time of the accident. The mother was air transported to Washington Hospital Center. She was admitted to the hospital; her injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
All three of her children were flown to Children’s National Medical Center. Two of her children, a two-month-old girl, and a six-year-old boy, were admitted and were listed in critical condition although their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. Her third child was admitted with life-threatening injuries and later died. At this time, only the preliminary investigation has been completed, and it is not known what contributed to the mother losing control of her car. Speed did not appear to have been a factor in the crash. There is no evidence or suspicion that the mother who was driving the vehicle was driving under the influence. The investigation is continuing under the supervision of Corporal Jason Hopkins.
