Safety Hazard Prompts 4moms Recall of Play Yard Sheets

By Alpert Schreyer on February 18, 2013

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) protects the public from risks of harm related to the use of consumer products that fall within its jurisdiction. Defective products are responsible for over $900 billion in costs to American consumers each year. Deaths, serious personal injury, and property damage result from defective products that cause chemical, mechanical, or electrical hazards, the risk of fire, and other dangers.

The Maryland defective product attorneys at Alpert Schreyer are experienced at handling cases involving personal injury and wrongful death due to defective products. They take pride in helping victims and victims’ families find justice for those who have been hurt because of the wrongful actions of product manufacturers.

According the CPSC, consumers should immediately stop using breeze cotton jersey play yard sheets by 4moms. Children can become entrapped in these sheets and suffocate.

The recall was issued on February 6, 2013, by the CPSC. The sale of this defective product began in December of 2012. The product typically sold for around $15.00.

The CPSC reports that there have been ten recalls since 2005, which involve approximately two million similar product units. This recall marks the first in the category of playpens, play yards, and travel beds.

Approximately 1,440 units are included in the recall. The play yard sheets are an accessory item to the 4moms breeze play yard itself. They were manufactured in cotton jersey fabric and were cream in color. Consumers will find item number—4M-009-10-000101 along with UPC code 817980011137. The UPC is also on the white warning tag sewn to the sheet itself.
