Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Recalled.  Users Asked To Turn Them Off Immediately.

By Alpert Schreyer on October 11, 2016

SamsungIn what has been described as perhaps the most major cell phone recall ever, Samsung issued an alert to its customers yesterday, telling Galaxy Note 7 users to turn off their original or replacement devices immediately.  Indications are that this is the result of the smartphones overheating and catching fire.
CNN Money and the Wall Street Journal broke the news, adding that this recall comes just one day after Samsung stopped production of the Galaxy Note 7.  In addition to asking users of the advanced smartphone to turn their devices off, Samsung has also asked all carriers and retailers worldwide to stop the selling or exchanging of the device.  Investigators are currently studying reports of the overheating batteries and fires.
This stop in production is actually the second recall, which comes just two weeks after the first recall when Samsung issued replacement phones.  That first recall came only one week after the Galaxy Note 7s release, when Samsung originally determined that the overheating batteries were the result of manufacturing issues at one of its suppliers.  Samsung has permanently discontinued the Galaxy Note 7.
The recall is a black eye on the Samsung brand as the Galaxy S7, released earlier this year, began a sizeable comeback for the company.  “This is by far the biggest concern I have seen in cellphones during my tenure,” said Verizon Communications Inc. Chief Executive Lowell McAdam. “In my however many years in the market I have not seen a recall like this.”
Most of the time, products work as they are intended.  Many of us have had cell phones that would get warmer than others and some that seemed to actually get hot.  Sometimes this can be a sign of a bigger problem.  Product recalls happen…and usually because someone either got injured or nearly got injured.  Have you or someone you know been injured by a product that is defective?  Know your rights.  Contact the experienced defective products attorneys at Alpert Schreyer, LLC for your free case evaluation today!  We will listen to you, assemble the facts and fight for your rightful compensation.  Don’t wait…call or contact us now.
