Many of the most serious Maryland car accidents occur at intersections. It is all too common for drivers to fail to obey traffic control devices or to properly yield the right of way. To help you avoid being involved in an intersection accident, make sure you:
- Always obey traffic lights and stop signs
- Yield to oncoming traffic when turning left
- Look for bicyclists and pedestrians before turning right
- Check for traffic before entering an intersection, even when the light is green
- Use extra caution at Maryland intersections where there is limited lighting
If you are injured in an intersection accident, it is advisable to call the authorities and collect evidence. You may be able to receive financial support for your losses. If you have lost a loved one in a fatal crash, you may be able to obtain financial support for your losses by filing a wrongful death claim.
A wrongful death claim is a civil lawsuit you can file to hold a negligent driver accountable for your loss. A successful wrongful death claim can result in financial support for your pain, loss of companionship, loss of wages and other related losses. In order to receive fair compensation, you will have to prove how the accident occurred and how the at-fault driver’s negligence contributed to the crash.
Proving liability and calculating the potential value of your claim can prove challenging. Make sure you have legal guidance throughout the claim process to ensure that your legal rights and options are protected. An experienced Maryland wrongful death lawyer can provide you with more information.
