Two people are dead as the result of an early morning car crash in Bel Alton in Charles County. As reported by smnewsnet.com, Maryland State Police officers responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the 9100 block of Crain Highway in Bel Alton.
According to the preliminary investigation, there was a head-on collision when a motorist driving a Hyundai was headed south but traveling in the north bound lanes of Crain Highway. A Dodge Caravan traveling north in the proper lane was struck head-on.

The Dodge Caravan’s 32-year-old driver from Baltimore was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The Hyundai’s driver, age 22, from Cobb Island, was thrown from the vehicle upon impact. She was taken to Civista Medical Center and pronounced dead upon arrival.
Maryland State Police are unsure as to why the driver of the Hyundai was driving in the wrong lanes of the highway. The investigation is ongoing.
